My name is Tracey and I am currently completing my first year studies in the Bachelor of Learning Management (Early Childhood).
Prior to commencing this course I had thought that I was relatively technologically competent, I now realise that I was mistaken and have been missing out. The mention of wikis and blogs went straight over my head at first but now that I have started they make sense and I am starting to understand what they are actually best used for.
I am very excited about interacting with the tools that I will be learning this Term and look forward to incorporating them into my teaching style. I am a little unsure of how I will incorporate them into Early Childhood but none the less eager to find out what is out there!

Week 1
This week we used online bookmarks, wikis, bubble.us and blogs.
We created an account to sign up to delicious.com which is an online bookmark web tool that you can access from anywhere. This I believe is a great tool as you can access them from anywhere on any computer rather than having certain bookmarks for home use and then others for work use.
Our weekly tutorials will be accessed using a wiki and before today I have never used this particular web tool, it is great to see thoughts and ideas uploaded instantly by any of the people in our class. I can see how this would be useful in a school classroom as well for teaching and learning.

It represents what I think about E-Learning and hopefully I will be able to add to this once I have completed this course.
Blogs
Lastly accounts were setup to use Blogger to be able to share what we are learning by use of blogging, this is also a new web tool for me and I am a little excited to see how it all comes together.
Blogs are an online journal where entries can be made and built upon by the editor, but also allow others to add comments and expand on the context of the blog. Blogs can be an effective way to have students interact and comment on each others ideas, thoughts and to add to build on their knowledge for a specific topic. Although I am aiming my ICT to Early phase I am sure that a blog could be added into my planning. However the example given was a blog that was setup with weekly entries of a fictional travel experience and have early phase students generate questions and I can post them. As I am the fictional character I could post pictures of the trip and post their whereabouts using Google maps. Using blogs in this way enables student to generate questions and/or comment on the blog about the entries and it also allows students to relate this information to real life situations in a virtual world.
